There’s a reason most diets fail. Many of them take a lot of work, cost a lot of money and take up valuable time tracking and planning meals. It’s difficult to stick to something that takes more effort than you'd like.
If you’re searching for an option that will give you the trim waistline you’ve always dreamed of, read on for diets that require minimal effort but provide big results.
Herbs and Supplements
The human body needs a variety of vitamins and minerals to maintain its daily functions, so when supplies are out of balance, it makes additional endeavors like weight loss a challenge. First and foremost, take a look at your personal nutrition and ensure you’re getting what your body needs to function optimally before looking at supplementing your diet.
Many ingredients like green coffee bean extract, ginseng and caffeine have been shown to boost weight loss efforts by increasing energy and regulating blood glucose. Supplements like weight loss capsules, the Thrive patch and skinny teas all boast some of these ingredients and more, advertising efficacy through little work on your part.
Any supplement, however, should be considered one part of a weight loss plan rather than simply used alone for maximum effect.
Crowding Out diet
This little known diet doesn’t require any food group restrictions or calorie counting. On this diet, you can have pizza for dinner every night if you’d like — but there’s a catch. Before eating some of the indulgent foods you love, fill a plate with low-calorie, nourishing foods and eat those portions before digging into anything else.
The science behind this diet involves stomach space and satiation cues. When you fill your body with celery, spinach, broccoli and other healthy and fibrous foods, you leave less room for high-calorie foods like burgers and cupcakes. This diet allows you to enjoy all the foods you love, experience less hunger and still lose some of those pesky pounds.
Plate Method diet
Most people are familiar with portion control diets, but getting out the measuring cups and spoons for every meal sounds like an absolute chore. The trick to this diet is to use smaller plates, bowls, and cups to control the amount of food eaten at any given meal. The idea is that with a smaller vessel, hopeful dieters are less likely to fill up on unnecessary calories.
Like all portion control diets, this method can leave you feeling rather hungry. The trick is to do it right. The Plate Method works even more efficiently when a plate is full of low-calorie, high-fiber or high-protein foods that will keep you feeling as full as if you’d served dinner on a larger plate.
The most scientifically proven way to lose weight is to expend more calories than you consume. With today’s technology, it’s easier than ever to track calories coming in and calories going out. It does require some effort, but with the help of a few apps, tracking calorie consumption and expenditure can be a breeze.
You should aim for a calorie deficit of 500 to 600 calories a day to lose a pound per week, with most people requiring an absolute minimum of 1,200 calories to maintain basic internal functions. An extreme calorie deficit carried out over time can cause serious health problems, so when tracking calories in and calories out, make sure you’re getting enough of what you need, too.
Meal Programs diet
If you’d like to eat as healthily as possible, ensure you’re eating a balanced diet and lose that extra weight, outsource your meal planning. Prepared meals designed for weight loss require little more than entering your credit card information and delivery address.
There are a variety of options when it comes to meal-based weight loss programs. Many cater to specific dietary restrictions, while some focus on creating a calorie deficit that will result in weight loss. Whichever option you choose, these programs take a lot of the guesswork out of weight loss and free up mental energy for the other tasks on your to-do list.
Weight loss doesn’t need to be a part-time job. By making a few smarter choices, and integrating them into your daily life, you can achieve the results you’ve always wanted.
