Winter is a great season - there are so many enjoyable things to do! And kids adore being outside playing and having fun. Their cheeks blush so lovably when it's cold and frosty! However, this can be dangerous: not only frostbite but also peeling, chapping, and even skin allergies are not uncommon for babies.

What must be done to avoid these problems? What is winter skin protection? And what products to choose for the best result?

Take Care Of The Baby's Skin With The Right Products

When we think about skincare and protection, the first thing that comes to mind is proper, high-quality cosmetics. And there is a reason for that! Such cosmetics protect, supply, soothe, and even cure adult's and children's skin. So, what should caring parents have?

Baby lotion for dry skin - Children's s delicate skin loses moisture very quickly; it can cause a baby dry skin rash. To prevent it, supply derma with lotion or cream. The best time to do it is right after a shower. Pat your little one dry with a towel and apply some moisturizer.

If you have noticed newborn baby skin peeling, don't worry! It's normal for new babies! However, do soothe it with the best baby lotion for newborns after bathing to prevent unpleasant skin conditions.

Baby oil for dry skin - Baby oil is another excellent treatment against dryness. Oil stays in the skin and prevents evaporation of moisture. But you have to apply it correctly! After a shower, pat your baby with a towel, but keep he or she a bit wet, then distribute some oil. It'll stay locked in the skin and supple it perfectly.

Baby wash for sensitive skin - Use a wash especially made for babies! Regular soaps are no-nos! Baby wash for sensitive skin doesn't contain harsh components, so it doesn't dry out kids’ gentle derma. Choose premium-quality, organic treatment for your little one.

Baby wipes for sensitive skin - It's one of the best inventions for gentle kids’ skincare, especially in the cold season! There is no need to wash your little one daily; actually, it dries derma out. When the child is messy, just wipe him or her. The best baby wipes for sensitive skin contain water and natural, soothing ingredients. They don't cause dryness or baby skin allergy.

Lip balm and barrier cream - It's important to apply a lip balm and some thick cream 20 minutes before going out. Harsh weather conditions may cause chapping and other derma issues, so protect your little one!

Strengthen The Immune System

When you strengthen the immune system, you enhance the ability of the skin to cope with harsh weather conditions. What should we do to support the baby's health?

Toughening up - It's a straightforward but effective procedure! When you wash your baby, try a contrast shower. Of course, you have to change the water temperature carefully and a bit at a time. Begin with the feet.

Proper diet - Winter skin protection includes good nutrition. We must nourish children with plant-derived vitamins. Simple home-made fruit drinks, dried fruits, and nuts - if they do not cause allergies - contribute to the formation of a complete diet, which strengthens the immune system. Consult with a pediatrician about the dose of vitamin C that should be taken as a preventative measure during periods of the flu epidemic.

The Level Of Humidity And Temperature At Home

Cold weather conditions outside can cause baby dry skin rash and other derma issues. But not only the weather is responsible for that! In winter, skin, mucous membranes, and respiratory systems are not adequately supplied with moisture because of heaters we use at home. When we turn on the heating to the full, it dries the air and the body. There are two solutions to this problem.

  1. We must humidify the air at home with air sprays or a humidifier. Moisturized air is essential for a good skin condition and overall well-being. There are lots of humidifiers on the market, just choose a suitable one for your family.
  2. The right home temperature is 65 to 70 degrees Fahrenheit. Is it too cold? Well, we understand! However, experts insist that this is the ideal room temperature for kids. Cuddle your little one as much as possible, and you both get warm!

We hope this post will help to make your wintertime more enjoyable! Take care of your little one and yourself! How do you protect your baby's skin during the cold season? Are there any tricks? Share them with us!
