One way that you can begin taking better care of yourself is by taking steps to ensure that you are eating a healthy diet. The meals that you eat have a significant impact on your overall health and can have an even stronger impact than many other changes that you can make. 

A good way to begin assessing your diet is to start keeping a food journal. This can be beneficial even for those who think that they are already eating well. The reality is that there are many health foods that contain additives and extra sugars that can be detrimental to your health and can make it more difficult to lose weight. 

Additionally, the more that you track what you eat, the better able you will be to notice patterns in your eating that may be holding you back. For example, even if you eat a fairly healthy diet if you are eating too large of meals at night it could slow down your progress towards your goals.

Along with that, asking yourself things like - Is rice gluten free? and Are certain fruits healthy? - can be beneficial when it comes to finding the best diet for you.

Drink Plenty of Water

In addition to eating a healthy diet, you also need to make sure that you are drinking enough water. What many don't realize is that dehydration could be holding them back from reaching their health goals. There can be many different symptoms of dehydration besides thirst. From brain fog to headaches, there can be many other signs that you are dehydrated.

When it comes to staying properly hydrated, the amount of water each person needs will vary. A good rule of thumb is to take your body weight, divide it in half, and then drink that many ounces of water a day. 

Stay Active

When working to improve your health, your activity levels are important. Regular exercise can have a wide range of benefits, from improved heart health to reduced stroke risk. There can be many reasons to make sure that you are moving your body on a regular basis.

While some may be concerned about the types of workouts they do, the truth is that there are many different types of exercise that can provide benefits. The more important thing to focus on is consistency. If you want to see good results from the workouts that you do, making sure that you do them for at least 15 to 20 minutes a day is important. 

Get the Sleep Your Body Needs

Although many are aware that good sleep makes them feel better, what they may not know is that it can have a lot to do with their overall health, and even their ability to lose weight. When you sleep, your body does a lot of work to heal and repair itself. If you don't get enough sleep, then your body may not be able to undertake the tasks that it needs to.

While it may not always be easy to get plenty of rest, doing things like avoiding screen time at night and avoiding large meals in the evening can help you to get better sleep.
