Skin care is a complicated matter as well as a concern for people of all ages. A good night cream can be a key player in the care and health of skin, particularly on the face and neck. It can help reduce wrinkles, age spots, discolorations, add extra hydration, and in some cases even gently exfoliate or repair damage over night.

Retinol And Collagen

A night cream is most often used for extra hydration and damage repair while we rest. It is applied after cleanser and doesn’t have makeup or other products added on top of it, so it is free to do its job unhindered all night. It is often a thicker cream or even a gel that sits on top of the skin and takes longer to sink in than a day cream. A night cream can also add additional ingredients that aren’t supposed to be exposed to sunlight - such as retinol - that will help to repair damage to skin.  Many night creams will also have collagen to reduce the forming of wrinkles and help skin appear and feel younger.

Vitamins And Minerals

Night creams also have added vitamins and minerals that can assist in keeping pores clear and help cleanse the skin. They can be absorbed and used more efficiently over night than during the day as this helps maintain a clean slate for the morning routine and a healthy start to the day. A good night cream can also contain ingredients to help boost circulation and blood flow over night, bringing more healing to damaged skin and help prevent dead cells and discolorations. This will also help the skin maintain a healthy glow and youthful appearance. As the body heals better overnight, using the best healing creams allows you to maximize this effect.

Day Creams

Not all night creams are made the same, so it can take a little research and trial to find the correct one, but it will be different then a day cream. Night cream is applied before bed, after cleansing and toning. It will be thicker, it will have different ingredients, it will work harder and repair more damage, and it will help your skin stay clean, clear, young, and soft. It is important to apply it consistently each night, to either the face or the face and neck, and leave it unhindered over night. It should not be worn during the day if it contains ingredients like retinol that can’t be exposed to sunlight, so it is also important to have a daytime moisturizer for use during the day.
