You know the saying, “new year, new you;” however, if you have had a hard time sticking to resolutions in the past, you may be avoiding the entire situation. However, there are some health-focused resolutions that you can make – and keep – for 2022.

Increase Your Activity Level

You may mistakenly think that being more active means going to the gym every day. However, increased activity starts outside the gym.

Increasing your activity level may mean something as simple as implementing more movement into your day-to-day activities. This could mean taking the stairs rather than the elevator or just increasing the total number of steps you take each day.

If your job requires you to sit at a desk all day, finding small ways to implement more activity is especially important. This is because sitting for long periods of time is linked to an increase in the risk of obesity, high blood pressure, and even death due to cardiovascular disease or cancer.

If you have a hard time finding the energy to move more, consider using a Thrive patch to help give you the boost you need.

Join a Gym

If you want to get more active, consider joining a gym. When you join a gym, you will gain access to all types of workout equipment. Having access is ideal because it encourages you to combine strength training and cardio into your workouts, which are both imperative for a healthy body.

After joining a gym, you can take fitness classes, engage in group fitness events, and even use the services of a personal trainer. For some, the accountability offered by group workouts and one-to-one exercises is what they need to help them stick to their New Year’s resolution. A gym is also a great environment to meet a workout partner or new friend.

Focus on More Family Time

When you make resolutions, family time may not be at the top of the list; however, doing so can help you improve your well-being. Taking time to be with your family more will be good for your health and the health of your family.

Parents who slow down and spend more time with their families are more relaxed and feel less stressed. Taking time to engage with your children means they will be more cheerful, friendly, and cooperative. Also, children who have parents who spend time with them are typically happier and healthier.

Practice Mindful Eating

Making resolutions related to what you eat and your diet can be the most challenging to keep. The new year is when there are all types of ads about diet fads and trends; however, changing how you eat is the best way to improve your diet.

When you focus on what you are putting in your mouth and slow down in between your bites, you aren’t as likely to overeat. That’s because it is easier to recognize that you are full.

Take time to turn off the TV, put your phone down, and really focus on your meal. If you do this for a while, you will figure out what your body needs and wants.

Mindful eating also includes trading out bad foods for healthier options. Instead of completely ditching the foods that you love, try to make a few changes at a time. For example, you can swap a soda for water or add veggies to your eggs in the morning.

Just keep in mind that splurging from time to time is fine. You don’t have to avoid your favorite foods and treats all the time. This is one of the main reasons so many people can’t stick to their resolutions.

Getting Healthier in the New Year

If you want to get healthier in the new year, be sure to keep the tips and information here in mind. Doing so will pay off and help ensure you get the results desired for your health and well-being. Being informed is the best way to make and stick to your New Year’s resolution
