If your eye doctor is recommending prescription treatment to enhance your vision, you will likely have a choice between contact lenses or eyeglasses. Several factors should be considered when making the decision, including your ophthalmologist's opinion. Here are some things to keep in mind when ordering corrective vision treatment.

Appearance

Older generations of eyeglass wearers used to feel embarrassed about their lenses. Often teased for the bland shape and style of conventional frames, people sometimes removed their glasses before attending a public event or to impress someone new.

Nowadays though, frames for glasses come in a range of styles for every personality, occupation, and image a person might want. Colors, shapes, and sizes vary to fit a wearer's face and coordinate with hair and eyes.

However, there are still some who prefer not wearing eyeglasses. Instead, they eagerly order contact lenses that fit in the eye without being seen by casual observers. You may want to check out frame styles before ordering your contact lenses to avoid missing out on trending designs.

Comfort

The earpieces of eyeglasses can be adjusted if they are too tight or too loose. New eyeglasses can be ordered for a more comfortable style if the current pair tends to slip down your nose or to shift to one side.

Contact lenses may be slightly uncomfortable at first, but most people get used to them quickly. Just don't overwear them, which can irritate your eyes and possibly cause an eye infection.

Convenience

Slipping on a pair of glasses or tucking them into a pocket offers easy handling and storage until needed. But outdoors in damp weather or in cold temperatures, eyeglasses can quickly fog up and require frequent wiping or cleaning.

Contact lenses are not directly affected by outdoor weather, so you can generally wear them without extra care or any discomfort in any season.

Cleaning and Care

Eyeglasses will need to be wiped free of dust and smudges by using a soft cloth. They should be stored at night away from children and pets to prevent damage or accidents.

Contact lenses must be sterilized before placement in the eyes, and they need to be cleaned afterward along with the storage container. Hands should be washed before handling the lenses to avoid contamination with germs or dirt.

Either type of vision correction can make you feel attractive and more confident. Choose the style of vision correction that best fits your lifestyle.
