There's no question that cancer is a frightening disease. One in three people will be diagnosed with cancer at some point in their lives, and it is the second leading cause of death in the United States.

While there is no surefire way to avoid getting cancer, there are certain lifestyle changes you can make to reduce your risk. The following are some of the lifestyle changes that you can apply in your life to reduce your risk of getting cancer.

Eat a Healthy Diet

The first lifestyle change you can make to reduce your risk of getting cancer is eating a healthy diet. This means focusing on whole foods and avoiding processed foods as much as possible because the less "extra" stuff in your food, the better it is for you.

Whole foods are also more filling than refined carbs like white bread or pasta, so you'll eat less. It would be best if you also tried to consume various fruits and vegetables with different colors to get all the nutrients your body needs from them. Also, make sure that at least half of each meal consists of vegetables.

Get Moving

Exercise has so many benefits for our health, including reducing cancer risk. A recent study found that people who exercised regularly at least 30 minutes per day were less likely to develop any type of cancer than those who didn't exercise at all.

Not only does exercise help reduce your risk of cancer, but it's also good for your overall health. It can help you lose weight or maintain a healthy weight, improve your mood, and even boost your immune system.

Eat Less Red Meat

We know that eating too much red meat can increase your risk of certain cancers, such as colon cancer, prostate cancer, and breast cancer. So one way to reduce this risk is by cutting back on the amount you eat per week or month.

Not only will this help reduce your risk of cancer, but it can also improve other aspects of your health, like lowering cholesterol levels and reducing inflammation in the body, which are both linked to heart disease. Eating less red meat may also lead you to eat other foods that are better for you, such as fruits, vegetables, whole grains, legumes, nuts, seeds, and lentils.

Get Enough Sleep

Sleep is essential for our health and well-being, but it can be hard to get enough. People who sleep less than six hours per night were more likely than those who got at least eight hours of restful slumber. So try going to bed earlier so that you can get the rest your body needs.

A healthy lifestyle is vital for overall health and well-being. By making these changes, you can reduce your risk of cancer.
