Additives You Should Subtract From Your Diet - Part 1

Trusted Health Products

Most food additives are the perfect ingredient in a recipe for poor health. While no one in their right mind would deliberately procure and use such a recipe, many of us ingest these toxic chemicals every day.

Its hard to understand how people could willfully and deliberately add poisons to the food chain knowing that they will hurt millions of innocent and unsuspecting families. How do these guys sleep at night? Don't they see what they're doing or care about what the long-term effects their unscrupulous actions will have? The sad truth is that the food additive manufacturers and their customers can only see green. That's why we consumers need to have our eyes wide open to the truth.

High Fructose Corn Syrup

Natural fructose is found in fruit and like the fruit, its good for you. Not so for high fructose corn syrup or HFCS. This is glucose processed from genetically modified corn, the byproduct of which is a Frankensteinian concoction guaranteed to wreak havoc with your health.

A staple in the American food supply since the 1980s, its estimated that American teenagers scarf down 22 tablespoons of HFCS every day! Although it has no nutritional value, high fructose corn syrup is found in everything from mayonnaise and ketchup to soda pop and candy.

Its in breads, cereals, cereal bars, and breakfast pastries. Cookies, cakes, and even cough syrups contain it. And imagine slurping it up next time you buy your favorite ice cream cone - its in the ice cream, too. And much of that HFCS is contaminated with mercury.

Its one of the primary culprits in our national plague of diabetes and obesity - conditions in America that have reached epidemic proportions. In fact, many cases of cancer, liver failure, arthritis, tooth decay, and dementia have also been attributed to the consumption of HFCS.

MSG

Aside from the fact that they rhyme, what do you suppose potatoes and tomatoes have in common? Well, both contain monosodium glutamate. Surprised? That makes two of us. Turns out that MSG is a naturally occurring amino acid. More than 100 years ago, a Japanese scientist isolated this amino acid for use as a flavor enhancer.

Note: MSG doesn't actually have a taste of its own; it just boosts the taste of foods, making them more palatable. Its become a ubiquitous additive in salad dressings, soups, crackers, and processed meats. Its even in some baby foods and infant formulas.

The Food and Drug Administration gave MSG its stamp of approval in 1959. However, over the years a number of adverse side effects have been reported anecdotally including headaches, chest pains, heart palpitations, facial numbness, seizures, nerve damage, and nausea. And some neuroscientists claim that glutamic acid is a neurotransmitter that can over excite brain cells and can therefore cause varying degrees of brain and heart damage.

Buyer beware. Read your food labels carefully and make sure you know what you're getting.
