4 Daily Choices That Influence Your Metabolic Health

Your metabolism is how your body changes what you consume into energy. The process involves breaking down cells into essential parts and using them as fuel for your system. A strong, healthy metabolic rate allows you to remain active, feel good and burn calories throughout the day.

Those that struggle to keep up with others, lose weight or feel tired may have a weaker metabolic breakdown. Could you improve your current state? Studies indicate that lifestyle choices do play a role in how someone's metabolism functions. By making some choices daily, you could improve your system.

1. Regulate Your Eating Schedule

Today's society focuses on three main meals, but the body may work better when fed more often with smaller portions. Eating every two to three hours in controlled amounts allows your metabolic health to be steady, preventing sugar levels from remaining stable. 

Why is sugar necessary? How does it control the metabolism? Your system uses glucose to maintain energy and battle fat, and it is stored in the muscles and tissues and produces fat. Furthermore, the correct levels also assist in ATP production to keep you moving and feeling good.

When these are overtaxed, you could feel sluggish, experience crashes, and find yourself storing more fat on your body. Consuming smaller meals permits the body to absorb glucose appropriately and have time to use nutrients better.

2. Get a Good Night's Rest

How well you sleep and how much you get each night could impact your metabolism. The body resets during the night, and by getting six to eight solid hours of rest, your body gets a chance to reestablish appropriate nutrient levels.

For instance, if your sugars are unbalanced, the body works on them as you sleep, getting you ready to be on track for the next day. Poor sleep interrupts this state, encouraging insulin resistance and a slower metabolism.

Develop an evening routine, going to bed at a particular time each night. Turn off electronics at least an hour before you plan to slumber. Do something quiet. Take a bath or shower, read a chapter in a book or complete some stretches. Allow the mind and body to unwind. Then, make sure to get up at a set time the following day.

3. Embrace Ice Water

What you drink daily impacts your metabolic rate. First, the body requires fluids to remain hydrated and function correctly, and that includes your metabolism. Strive for 64 to 100 ounces a day. This amount flushes out toxins from the system and permits organs to work well. Second, you reduce excess sugars that could slow down the process.

Add ice because studies show that the colder temperature revs up your system. Why would temperature matter? Your body must work to warm up after taking in the cooler drinks, ramping up your metabolism. So, drinking an ice-cold glass of water could help you burn calories.

4. Plan To Move More

Research reveals that activity factors into your metabolism's functioning. People who remain stagnant throughout the day do not burn calories or expend energy; thus, their rates are lower. It's harder to burn calories, excess sugars and maintain healthy metabolic levels.

When you move for even 30 minutes at a time, the heart pumps faster and your body must force energy production. Try to get up and stand for a bit; avoid sitting for long periods. Concentrate on building a set workout routine.

For those that want an intense increase, look for HIIT classes. These cardio classes boost the heart rate and metabolism, leaving you burning calories even after the session.

If you feel like your metabolism isn't where you want it, make small changes in your lifestyle choices. Drink cold water throughout the day, schedule movement to get the blood pumping and establish a sleep schedule. In addition, try eating smaller meals spread out throughout the day, allowing your digestive system to absorb nutrients better.
