Dry eyes can be extremely uncomfortable, and it can be hard to determine how to naturally and safely handle them. If you’re reluctant to try all of the home remedies you see online, that’s totally understandable.
Consider these three approaches to handling dry eyes in a manner that’s both safe and natural.
Use Ointments And Drops For Dry Eyes
Primarily, you’ll want to visit your eye doctor in order to get a thorough dry eye treatment. Sometimes, there are issues that a regularly-scheduled visit to the eye doctor can fix. However, once you’ve received your treatments, there are times when ointments and eye drops can be extremely helpful.
Make sure you get them approved by your eye doctor before using them. Ointments are best when you use them at night before you go to bed. By the morning, you’ll reap the benefits and be able to produce your own tears.
Incorporate Fatty Acids For Dry Eyes Benefit
Don’t underestimate the power of a really good diet. Your eyes especially can be benefited by fatty acids, so find ways to incorporate fatty acids into your diet. Whether you’re vegan, vegetarian, or on a gluten-free diet, there are ways to supplement your nutritional intake with the right options.
In addition to the supplements, consume seeds like flax seeds and chia seeds. Walnuts are an excellent source of fatty acid, as are fatty fish like mackerel and tuna.
Develop A Moisturizing Nighttime Routine For Dry Eyes
Create a nighttime routine that starts as soon as you arrive home from work. If you can run your humidifier throughout the day, you will be able to maintain moisture in the air.
Once you’ve placed ointment in your eyes, give them a gentle massage by placing a warm, damp compress over your eyelids before you drift off to sleep.
As you use these methods, take note of the ones that seem to give you the most progress within a shorter amount of time. It’s also important to remember that in order to decrease the chances of dry eyes, you’ll need to develop a lifestyle that makes dry eyes harder to develop.
Instead of going to the hair salon during its busiest hours where there’s a lot of blowdrying and smoke from heat tools, choose a time when you’ll be the only one in the salon. This can make an impact on whether you experience dry eyes or not.
Wear a specific type of wraparound sunglasses in order to protect your eyes on windy days. Try not to use too many electronics that stimulate your eyesight. If you’re a cigarette smoker, it might be time to stop.
Once you develop a lifestyle, it’ll be a lot easier to handle dry eyes in a way that’s natural, safe, and permanent.
