Many people overlook how important nutrition and a healthy diet have on the skin. If you don’t have a healthy diet and eat the right foods, your skin will never be at its best. As much as food affects all of your other organs, it also affects your skin.

Below are some of the best foods to give you healthy and vibrant looking skin:

  • Fish: Fatty fish such as salmon, herring, or mackerel are great for healthy skin. They are all rich in omega-3 which can ensure that your skin looks strong and healthy. This nutrient can also be a great tool in reducing skin inflammation and irritation.
  • Avocados: Avocados are known for being high in what is referred to as healthy fats. These healthy fats allow your skin to be flexible and moisturized. These nutrients may also protect your skin from sun damage and harmful UV rays.
  • Walnuts: Walnuts are an amazing source of fatty acids and are rich in omega-3 and omega-6, both of which reduce inflammation if taken in the proper amounts. This can ensure that your skin remains strong and healthy if it is not eaten in excess.
  • Sunflower Seeds: Nuts and seeds are generally a good source of vitamins and nutrients for your skin, but sunflower seeds in general are great due to their amount of vitamin E and zinc, both of which have great effects on the skin.
  • Sweet Potatoes: Sweet potatoes are full of a nutrient known as beta-carotene. Beta-carotenes can transfer into vitamin A in the body which helps to protect your skin from the sun while also preventing skin dryness.
  • Bell Peppers: Both yellow and red bell peppers have great benefits for your skin due to their high volume of vitamin A. On top of that, they are also filled with vitamin C which is also crucial to skin health. These vitamins allow your skin to stay firm and strong along with fighting against wrinkling and skin aging.
  • Broccoli: Broccoli is filled with vital vitamins and minerals that are crucial to skin health. Some of these vitamins and minerals include zinc, vitamin C, and vitamin A. These vitamins and minerals can protect your skin from damage, wrinkles and becoming dry. It also may fight skin cancer in some cases.
  • Tomatoes: Tomatoes are packed with vitamin C as well as a lot of other beneficial nutrients proven to prevent wrinkling as well as protect your skin from damaging rays.
  • Soy: Within soy is what is called isoflavones. Isoflavones are plant compounds that can both mimic and block estrogen production in your body. This ability can reduce wrinkles, improve elasticity, hydrate dry skin, and protect your skin from radiation.
  • Dark Chocolate: Cocoa, specifically from dark chocolate, can have extraordinary effects on your skin because it is so high in antioxidants. Research has shown that those who eat dark chocolate everyday have healthier and more hydrated skin.
