Lovely Lemongrass Oil: What To Use It For?

Trusted Health Products

Besides being one of the most pleasant smelling oils out there and a personal favorite of mine - this oil can be used in many different ways to effectively address specific issues. Not to be confused with lemon oil, which is very different, lemongrass oil comes from an herb that is a part of the grass family Poaceae.

With a scent that is a distinct mix of earth tones and fresh lemon, it's light enough to be used often and in varying doses. It can be both relaxing and stimulating by providing a specific balance to those who smell it. Here are some additional key ways this oil is helpful.

Natural Deodorizer

No one likes a smelly laundry room or bathroom. Sometimes we go nose blind to what makes certain rooms in our homes smell bad. Whether it's kitty litter, old socks or the kitchen garbage, dealing with unpleasant smells is never fun.

Thankfully, lemongrass oil is a deodorizer that will help effectively neutralize the bad smell, while also infusing its natural aroma in the room. You can add a couple of drops of lemon grass into a spritzer bottle with some water to refreshen up certain spots in your home.

Skin

Naturally a skin healing oil, it can be easily added to lotions, cleansers, soaps and so on as it's incredibly gentle and can be used on a variety of skin types. Due to its astringent and antiseptic qualities it makes for a great toner and helps to even out the skin.

Do you suffer from discoloration or have certain spots that look a bit duller than others? This oil is perfect for treating those imperfections and giving you a more even tone. Your skin will glow after using this oil for a couple of weeks.

Hair

Is you hair looking a little bit drab and lifeless? Lemongrass oil is great for hair because it naturally strengthens the hair follicles. If you are noticing your scalp has become itchy and irritated or you have an annoying bout of dandruff, this oil should be added to your hair care regimen.

Just a few drops of lemongrass oil added to your shampoo will completely shift how your hair and scalp behave. The germ-killing properties within the oil are perfect for troublesome scalps and the astringent qualities will leave your hair clean, shiny and fresh.

Headache Relief

If you tend to suffer from tension headaches, you may find that certain essential oils help to relieve that bit of pressure and annoyance that sometimes settles between your ears. Whether it's localized pain or pressure, lemongrass oil can help to alleviate the discomfort.

Try adding a couple of drops of the oil to your fingertips and massaging your temples or parts of your head that throb. Both the application of the oil and smelling the oil will help to release the pressure in your head and provide you some relief. You can add a cold or hot compress to this method as well.
