Facing Obesity And Linked Health Problems
A new research in the US states that the increase risk of gum disease are more likely to be hurdled by obese people. Excessive body fat which refers to obesity have been linked to a range of health ailments. And it has been proven to be shown to cause heart disease, diabetes, sleep disorder and bone loss.
Researchers at the Boston University conducted a new study which found out that obesity can make a person susceptible to bacteria which cause disease in the gums. Tests on mice found that the obese among them had higher levels of P gingivalis in their mouths and suffered more bone loss around their teeth, one of the most common side-effects of the infection, reported the online edition of BBC News.
Furthermore, the obese mice possesses a lower level of certain chemically-immune system which is normally released by the body in fighting certain infections.
